Please join us for an exciting concert this weekend! In addition to playing instruments, ensemble members will be utilizing soda cans, knives, sand, and an array of metronomes. We will be running, shuffling, banging, dueling, and singing.

If you can’t join us in person, tune in here this Sunday, April 29, at 8pm Eastern time, to watch the concert streamed live on the web! Click below to start the stream.

The concert will consist exclusively of world premieres by Midwestern composers:

~Three miniatures by Daniel Kelly (from Colombus, OH), arranged by Brooks Frederickson (from Fort Wayne, IN)
~Floating Point Overload by Meredith Gilna (from Lincolnshire, IL)

Generous News 3

November 14, 2011 in News

We’ve got members Erin Camp, Owen Weaver, Sayun Chang and Peter Scuderi all hunkering down for recitals at our homebase at the Hartt School! As a sum of parts we’ve got Doctoral comprehensives to be completed, commissions coming, competitions to be entered and Holidays and Finals but we’re about to do a whole lot of GE homework with rehearsals on new music by Meredith Gilna, Daniel Kelly, Daniel Morel, Matt Sargent and Scott Comanzo!

That last piece will then be passed on to a fast and furious multi-day multi-overdubbing recording session to be completed in December!

In the meantime Christmas Dinner Commissions are due soon and are we looking for the perfect date and venue in the Hartford area for the Marquee Concert later this winter!

Stay Tuned!!!

The Generous Premier!!! Douglass Street Music Collective

September 29, 2011 in News

It’s the morning after The Generous Ensemble premier performance!  The ensemble trekked from far and wide through torrents of rain, in white t-shirts to The Douglass Street Music Collective in the Gowanus Arts Building to play the kind of group improvisation this particular venue seems to inspire. (in our case inspired by Stockhausen’s “Right Durations”)

We followed two stirring performances, one by the duo of Dennis Cassidy/Simon Jermyn and one by TRYST. Thank you to those wonderful performers and thank you to Daniel Kelly for giving us this wonderful opportunity! The tri-state generous experience has begun and it was a howling sucess!

Audio, Video and Pics from this historic event will be available here soon!

On to New Haven!
